One thing that I’ve come to truly enjoy about Japanese culture is their bakeries. They are one of the few aspects of Japanese culture which have been colored by an outside country. French influence on Japanese baking has created such beautiful and uniquely flavored treats. Here are some examples of the mouthwatering pan from a bakery about 5 minutes away from my house in Portland, Oregon

    こんばんわ！ I also love Japanese bakeries! I'm so jealous you have one close to your house since we have no Japanese food in the city I'm from (Idaho really lacks in the diversity department).

    I have never had any Japanese baking before. I would love to try it in the future! We should try and see if there are any we can visit.

シカゴからポートランドまでのひこうきのきっぷ（ticket)はとても高いですから、このはる休みはポートランドでりょこうをしませんけど、シガゴに行きたいです。 おばさんとおじさんはシカゴで住（す）んでいます。そして、でんしゃのきっぷの方がひこうきのきっぷより安いです。シガゴで、ポーランド（Polish)りょうりを食べたいです。 私はアイススケイトがあるから、「Compton Ice Arena」で、アイススケイテイングをしたいです。「Compton Ice Arena」はたくさん学生のヂスカウントがあるから、とても安いアクチベチーです。はる休みにセーントメリズ大学の学食とカフェはしまっています（closed）から、私は食べものをりょうりします。りょうりはちょっと大へんだけど、りょうりをする方がレストランに行くより安いです。

Self Introduction and First Post

はじめまして、 ベッドーフォードです。趣味（しゅみ）はスポーツと読書（どくしょ）とすがくです。おちゃは大好きです。そして、猫が好きです。 どうぞよろしく。 Translation: [My name] is Bedford. My hobbies are sports, reading, and math. I love tea! Also, I like cats. Lets get to know each other! I’m Savannah Bedford, and I’m very excited to take this Japanese class! Unlike many of my classmates, I’ve had some background in the language but I really needed a reminder of some basic conventions before moving to the upper levels. Through this class, I want to cement speaking in conversation as a strength in my Japanese abilities. There’s so much about that I love about Japanese culture that I’m not sure where to start. The food is something that I absolutely love. I can’t get enough of らめん, もち, おやつぱん, あんこ, and pretty much anything まちゃ flavored. I also have quite a penchant for tea.
